Little River Inn, the family-owned and operated boutique golf, spa and tennis resort on the Mendocino coast, will be buzzing with festivities throughout 2014 as it proudly commemorates 75 years of operation. Guests are invited to partake in a variety of ways, with different celebratory events, room discounts and packages available each month, as well as social media-based contests. Additionally, the Inn will be releasing a special 75th anniversary wine label in partnership with Navarro Vineyards in February, as well as a private anniversary-edition beer with Anderson Valley Brewing Company in March.
Event and overnight package highlights for the first half of the year include a Crab, Wine and Beer Festival in January; Alsace Festival in February; Little River Whale Festival in March; Earth is First Festival and the LRI Concert Series in April; Memorial Day Weekend celebrations in May (the official anniversary month); and the Coro Release Party and kayaking, llama trekking and biking packages this summer.
Little River Inn was officially founded in 1939, establishing the Inn as a mainstay in the town of Little River for over seven decades. The property has remained in the family ever since Ole and Cora Hervilla decided to turn the home their grandfather Silas Coombs built in 1863 into an inn, and today is skillfully overseen by Innkeeper Cally Dym, Silas Coombs’ great-great-granddaughter. Dym continues to honor the traditions and history of the Inn, with everyone from cousins to spouses involved in the day-to-day operations of the resort, ensuring that guests today enjoy the same level of genuine hospitality as when the Inn first opened.
